BARDon the Interruption is back for some thrilling Round Two Recaps and other exciting news.

The Podcast

You asked, and we delivered - BARDon the Interruption is now a PODCAST. WOW.

Yesterday after the dust settled and Round Three match-ups were set, I caught up with the incomparable Laurie Winkel (SoD veteran, cat foster parent, and host of podcast Never Say Macbeth) to recap the tie-breaking drama and the first two rounds of the Battle of the Bard. We talked about Brian Ashton Smith’s incredible text-based rendition of “Wherefore Art Thou Romeo?”, the return of Tiger King, Sarah Hitzel’s cats, and so much more.

Give us a listen at the link below/wherever you get your podcasts OR read on for a written recap, if that’s more your style.

The Drama

Round Two of the Battle of the Bard brought us an unprecedented tie vote. We anticipated we’d have some nail biters, but never a dead tie: but here we were, with the same amount of votes for both “I Am An Ass” and “Whom You Have Condemn’d.” Without any system in place for such an occurrence (have we mentioned that we’re flying by the seat of our pants here?), we had to improvise to pick a winner.

Hannah Pniewski joined April Singley on #quaranTEAM “Whom You Have Condemn’d” to take on what continues to be a Shakespeare on Digital Cinderella story, Much Ado’’s “I Am An Ass.”

The Judge’s Choice

Shakespeare on Draught founder Elizabeth Ann Miller pulled some major strings to bring in an impartial judge for a final decision: the company’s favorite pup, Tucker the Sheltie. Headshots were printed, treats were placed on the floor, and Tucker choose which of the two monologues would move on. Laurie Winkel wowed groundlings with her creative, stop-motion version of “I Would Not Be Thy Executioner” from As You Like It.
